I was close friends with Matthew and Ryan (social Media personalities, a gay couple going through adoption process). I had known Matthew since I was a kid and called him Matt or Matty. I was walking through an unfamiliar town with them and end up losing track of them and getting lost in this school-like building. One of the teacher type figures finds me and takes me to this room where a nurse figure sees me and mistakes me for someone else who needs a wheelchair and had a broken arm. I protest that I am not this person but I'm not believed. She takes me to thd A and E type place they were supposed to take other person. When they arrive with me there, they are told off and called out on not listening to me. The second nurse walks me back to where I was taking from and I ask for directions to ASDA. She takes me to somewhere that looks like Peterlee town centre and tells me which way to go. I start walking and walk to this big white old building. I go in, it's a vast library and people stare at me as I walk through. I end up walking through to get to this building that keeps dangerous underwater creatures as a tourist attraction. I ask one of staff where ASDA is and it turns out I went the wrong way and didn't need to go through the building/library. I just need to figure out how to get back to where I was. Somehow I find Matthew and Ryan. It turns out they are going through surrogacy and I'm carrying the child. Someone asks me how it feels and I say "Well, it's not my baby, even though it's my egg, it's..." It is Matthew's baby I'm carrying. We go back to their house which is an apartment attached to this lorry driver's garage type place. The lorry driver isn't a nice person and recognises me, Matthew and Ryan, and sees us going into the apartment, finding out where they live. He and his group sneak in and follow us and start a serious fire. I only just manage to escape the fire, so does Ryan. Matthew doesn't. At the end of the dream I think of baby and how it is Matthew's legacy.
Dreams often serve as reflections of our waking life's emotions, relationships, and subconscious thoughts. In interpreting your dream involving Matthew and Ryan, several key themes emerge that weave together to provide insight into your psyche and current life circumstances.
Friendship and Connection: The presence of Matthew and Ryan, particularly your established friendship with Matthew, signifies the strength of your connections and possibly a longing for deeper social bonds. Since you know Matthew since childhood, he symbolizes familiarity, nostalgia, and comfort. However, your experience of losing track of them suggests feelings of disconnection or confusion in your current relationships or networks. This could indicate a fear of losing touch with people who are important to you, or perhaps anxiety about navigating social situations.
Exploration and Identity: Walking through an unfamiliar town and ultimately finding yourself lost in a school-like building can symbolize a journey through personal growth or adolescence. Schools often represent learning and development, suggesting that you might be in a phase where you are exploring new aspects of yourself. The confusion in your path might symbolize internal conflicts or uncertainties about where you currently stand in life or what direction you should take next.
Misunderstanding and Recognition: The encounter with the nurse who mistakes you for someone else suggests feelings of being misunderstood or overlooked in your waking life. The challenge of asserting your identity and being taken seriously may reflect an ongoing struggle to ensure your needs and opinions are recognized by those around you. This element of your dream hints at the desire for autonomy and the importance of expressing your true self without being mischaracterized.
Motherhood and Legacy: The aspect of carrying a child for Matthew and Ryan through surrogacy offers a strong associative link to themes of legacy, creation, and responsibility. The mix of feelings about the baby—acknowledging it as not your biological child—points to your awareness of deeply ingrained connections to those you love while also grappling with your place in shared experiences. This can symbolize your views on nurturing and how you fit into the lives of others, especially those you care about, as well as your role in shaping their future.
Conflict and Escape: The ominous lorry driver and the fire represent external threats or challenges in your life. The fire may symbolize intense emotional situations, unexpected stress, or fears you may be confronting. Escaping with Ryan but not Matthew could reflect unresolved conflict or loss—a fear of losing someone dear to you, or perhaps reflecting on the everyday dangers or toxic environments one might experience. This section of the dream might reveal inner turmoil about responsibilities towards loved ones and the lengths you will go to protect them.
Endurance and Reflection: The dream ending with thoughts of the baby as Matthew's legacy indicates that, despite chaos or loss, there is hope and continuity through love and relationships. It emphasizes the importance of cherishing those connections and recognizing that they carry a part of you forward.
In summary, this dream speaks to your feelings of connection, responsibility, identity, and the complexities of love. It showcases both the brightness of relationships and the shadows of fear associated with loss or misunderstanding. Reflecting on these themes could provide clarity on your current life situations and help you navigate the relationships that are significant to you. Consider how you might address any feelings of disconnection, fear, or misunderstanding in your waking life to bring about a sense of peace and clarity.
